High School Math Teacher Job Description

Job Summary:

We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic High School Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic ​faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education and a passion ​for inspiring students to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject. The ​successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment, ​delivering effective instruction, and fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high ​school students.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  • Implement a comprehensive and standards-based mathematics curriculum (Illustrative Math) ​that meets the diverse needs of high school students.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding and problem-solving ​skills.

Instruction:

  • Deliver clear and effective instruction in various mathematics courses, ranging from algebra to ​calculus and beyond.
  • Utilize diverse teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

Student Engagement:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student ​participation and collaboration.
  • Motivate and inspire students to appreciate the relevance and applications of mathematics in ​real-world scenarios.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Implement fair and consistent assessment methods to evaluate student progress and ​understanding.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.

Individualized Support:

  • Offer additional help and support to students who may need extra assistance grasping ​mathematical concepts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement effective strategies for student success..


Technology Integration:

  • Incorporate educational technology tools and resources to enhance the learning experience and ​facilitate student engagement.
  • Stay informed about advancements in educational technology relevant to mathematics ​instruction.

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with developments in mathematics education, teaching methodologies, and ​educational research.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other mathematics teachers and educators to align curriculum, share best ​practices, and contribute to the overall improvement of the mathematics program.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and activities.
