Elementary Principal Job Description

Job Summary:

The Elementary Principal at Aspen Public Schools holds a pivotal role in the educational landscape, entrusted with the dynamic task of overseeing all facets of elementary school operations. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision:

  • Collaborate with education partners to nurture a school-based culture aligned with Aspen Public Schools' mission.
  • Lead the implementation of clearly articulated goals and measures of success.
  • Regularly communicate and inspire students, parents, and faculty around the mission and vision.

Instructional Leadership:

  • Support strong instructional leadership and facilitate leadership team meetings with teachers and staff.
  • Provide professional development and coaching to enhance teaching practices and support student success.
  • Collaborate with staff to collect and analyze data to continuously improve student outcomes.

Data Management & Student Academics:

  • Ensure accurate data management in the student information system and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Assessment Coordinator and Vice Principal to accomplish internal and external state assessments.

Recruitment and Retention:

  • Develop and execute a plan for student recruitment and enrollment in collaboration with relevant education partners.
  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and selection of faculty and staff.
  • Coach and support faculty and staff for professional progression and growth.

School Culture:

  • Leads efforts to support a strong school culture aligned with the mission and vision of Aspen Public Schools.
  • Collaborate with the Extended Learning Director to enhance the student experience through various activities and programs.



Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external partners, including school staff, community partnerships, and student families.
  • Attend APS Board meetings and maintain a strong relationship with community partners.

School Operations:

  • Forecast, monitor, and manage the school budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and oversee on-site operations and administrative staff.

Qualifications:

  • CA Administrative Credential
  • Previous experience in school leadership and education.
  • Strong understanding of instructional leadership and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with diverse educational partners.
  • Knowledge of budget management and school operations.


Education:

  • Master's degree in Education Administration or related field preferred.
